Our film is about a fake death of a young girl and how her younger sister uncovers the truth.

Audiences will be able to connect to the film as it is frighteningly realistic.
Fans of Gone Girl will thoroughly enjoy our film.
We need to be able to understand our audience as it will help us create a profile of an ideal audience member. I will then use this information to help create my marketing strategy.
Audiences can be defined in different ways
I did research into Bauer Media Advertising. They have clearly segmented and distinct audiences based on gender, age and socio-economic groups. This will help us place advertisements for our film and who to get in contact with.Another way of defining audiences is psycho-graphic profiling
Maslow's hierarchy of needs. Human behaviour reflects reflects a hierarchy of needs which range from the most fundamental needs for food, water, warmth and security through to those related to our personal development.
ADORNO AND THE CULTURE INDUSTRY
For Theodore Adorno advertisng creates false needs and capitalism makes people want unnecessary products which replace people 'true' needs. For example, Disney's marketing campaign for Beauty and the Beast is a means of saturating the market with information about the film, designed to make audiences want to see it.
BFI EXIT POLLS
The BFI carry out exit polls to asses audience responses to a screening. By doing this, they aim to improve the way they distribute and market their film to lead to a higher success rate. One example of a film is

Here is the outline of my target audience for my film (Unforgotton)
They are likely to watch TV programs such as Sherlock and Dexter. The films at the cinema they would most likely see at the cinema is Insidious, Panic Room and Girl on the Train. During their leisure time, they will download music, go out in the the evening, drink coffee in the morning and frequently check up on what is happening on social media. Achieving this will be done on their MacBook or I phone. When out to eat they will go to Pizza Express, Wagamammas and Nandos. The type of clothes they wear are bought from Urban Outfitters, Topshop, Topman and Fatface.

There are many different ways of profiling audiences such as socioeconomic, demographics, psychographics. Psychographics is how we describe an audience by their personality and characteristics as described by young and rebican.
